The Quince Essential Palate - Wine & Food Pairing

SOLD OUT -> The Essential Palate 1 - Wine and Food Chef /Sommelier Andrea Jefferson of Quince will guide you through an exploration of food and wine pairing. She'll bring the food and wine, and all you'll need is your palate and a sense of adventure. From the savoury and sparkling to the sweet and aromatic, Chef Andrea will pour 5 different wines, pairing them with tapas from her delicious Quince menu. The wine poured will be chosen from a list of easily accessible, good value labels around the $20.00 range. The emphasis will be on the wine itself and learning about successful food pairings. Starting with the essentials of wine tasting, and looking at the basics of how food affects the flavour of a wine, we will select one wine and pair with several different kinds of food. We'll move on to taste 5 different wines with Chef Andrea's food pairings, which the class will have the opportunity to study and rate. Price includes wine & food samples. The Quince Essential Palate - Olive Oil & Vinegars & Balsamic Vinegar Tasting

From peppery, grassy and spicy olive oils, to smooth, acidic or sweet balsamic vinegars, come and learn the varying flavors and intensities that olive oils and balsamic have to offer.

Chef/Sommelier Andrea Jefferson of Quince will select Extra Virgin Olive Oils of various qualities and from different regions to demonstrate the many flavours and aromatic profiles of Olive Oil. We'll do a vertical tasting of balsamic vinegars to allow us to see the difference that age really does make. After tasting and rating the different products, Chef Andrea will demonstrate a variety of salad dressings as well as a balsamic reduction. A light tasting including wine will be included. Chef/Sommelier Andrea Jefferson of Quince will guide you through the night's agenda: a discussion of the various kinds of knives and their uses; sharpening techniques; and the all-important way to hold a knife like a professional in order to chop endlessly with greater precision. We will practice and put your skills into use with a Tomato Brushcetta followed by a salad course, paired with a perfect wine for the finish.
